Engineered hardwood flooring is a manufactured product that is made up of three to five layers of material. The top layer is what you see and is represented by the species of hardwood flooring like oak maple walnut etc. Engineered hardwood construction has durable high performance qualities.

It is constructed with multi layers of wood. Engineered wood also called mass timber composite wood man made wood or manufactured board includes a range of derivative wood products which are manufactured by binding or fixing the strands particles fibres or veneers or boards of wood together with adhesives or other methods of fixation to form composite material. Engineered flooring is somewhat less expensive than solid hardwood but most types can be sanded and refinished only once since the surface hardwood layer is relatively thin. Engineered wood flooring looks very similar on the surface but it is made from a relatively thin layer of hardwood bonded over a substrate of high quality plywood.

This construction prevents the engineered hardwood from warping and bowing the way a hardwood floor might in moist areas. Each layer is positioned in a different direction.
